A Look At Lakeview Architecture

Thinking about Lakeview?

Lakeview is a popular area for both first-time buyers and growing families. It’s a great compromise between being closer to downtown and being out in the ‘burbs, and the neighborhood has plenty of amenities.

What do the houses look like though? Let’s look at a few that have been on the market recently that area representative of the area!

Ranch with Room

Most of Lakeview was developed mid-century and ranch homes like this one were a popular style, especially in the areas closer to the lake: Lakeshore and Lake Vista. This Onyx Street home is only two blocks from the lake and sits on a huge lot of almost 8,000 sqft. The home itself is just under 2,000 sqft and features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. This home, like many in the area, has a completely remodeled interior with new flooring and a new kitchen.

Cute Cottage

Small cottages and bungalows are also popular styles original to the post-WWII construction era of the neighborhood. This 2,030 sqft Memphis Street home features 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms and fresh updates inside. It also boasts another popular feature in Lakeview that isn’t always seen in other neighborhoods of New Orleans: a garage with entry from a rear street.

Modern New Orleans

New construction is also popular in the area with rebuilding taking place on lots that were cleared after 2005. This Louisville Street property built in 2019 showcases a popular local style and was built on two lots. It boasts 3,450 sqft including 5 bedrooms, 3.5 bathrooms, and modern everything inside.

Mid-Century Modern

If a Mid-Century Modern home is your dream, Lakeview, especially Lakeshore and Lake Vista, are the places in New Orleans to look. This Crystal Street home on 1/3 acre corner lot is over 3400 sqft and includes 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, and an inground salt water pool. Cathedral ceilings and a gas fireplace round out the ambiance factor and as a bonus, this particular home never flooded.

Solid & Stately

This home built in 2016 showcases another new construction style in the neighborhood. If you love watching Chip and Joanna this might be the spot for you – this Filmore Street beauty features reclaimed oak flooring, shiplap, and reclaimed beams. Modern updates and extras including a master bedroom fireplace round out this 2,600 sqft home that includes 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
